RDP/VAE(Redispersible Polymer Powder/Redispersible Powder)
RDP (Redispersible Polymer Powder/Redispersible Powder) or VAE is a water-soluble re-dispersible powder. It is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It dissolves in water easily and forms emulsion quickly, RDP could offer strong adhesive and stretching force to improve the workability, flexibility and  water-proofing of the materials. Redispersible Polymer Powder is a kind of free-flowing white powder,which is spray-dryed by polymer emulsion and after subsequent treatment to keep the stability of powder appearance and character. The mainly application is in construction dry-mixed mortar,and have excellent performance in increasing the dry mortar cohesion,adhesion and flexibility.
The redispersible polymer powder(VAE) is a water-soluble re-dispersible powder. It is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It uses polyvinyl alcohol as a protective colloid. By adding re-dispersible latex powder, the performance of mortar with cement or gypsum as the substrate can meet the needs of various constructions.
Rdp/Redispersible powder is usually white powder, but there are a few products in other colors. The components of dispersible emulsion powder mainly include the following.
(1) Polymer resin. Polymer resin is located in the core part of rubber powder particles, and is also the main component of dispersible latex powder, such as polyvinyl acetate/vinyl resin, styrene/butadiene resin, vinyl/vinyl chloride/vinyl laurate resin, etc.
(2) Additives (inside). The additive (inside) plays a role in improving the properties of the resin. For example, a plasticizer that reduces the film forming temperature of the resin. Not every emulsion powder has additives, such as vinyl acetate/vinyl copolymer resins do not need to add plasticizers.
(3) Protective colloid. The protective colloid is a layer of hydrophilic material coated on the surface of dispersible latex powder particles. Most of the protective colloid of redispersible emulsion powder is polyvinyl alcohol.
(4) Additives (outside). In order to further improve the performance of the redispersible emulsion powder, other additives other than plasticizers are usually added, here called additives. Usually, a superplasticizer is added to the dispersible emulsion powder to improve the fluidity and dispersion of the emulsion.
(5) anti-caking agent. The anti-caking agent is usually a fine mineral filler, which acts to prevent the agglomeration of the emulsion powder during storage and transportation, and also helps the emulsion powder product to come out when it is dumped from the paper bag or tank truck.

1.0 What is RDP

RDP(Redispersible Polymer Powder/Redispersible Powder) or VAE is a water-soluble re-dispersible powder. It is a copolymer of ethylene and vinylacetate. It dissolves in water easily and forms emulsion quickly , RDP could offer strong adhesive and stretching force to improve the workability, flexibility and water-proofing of the materials.
This VAE Re-Dispersible Polymer Powder Used in construction uses polyvinylalcohol as a protective colloid. By adding landcel RDP, the performance of mortar with cement or gypsum can meet the needs of various constructions.

2.0 How to Choose RDP

VAE Re-Dispersible Polymer Powder (RDP)is produced by spray-drying and water-based 
emulsion, mostly based on vinylacetate and acrylicacid, dissolves in water easily and quickly 
forms emulsion.The main specification is as below, and Ash content , Film tempreture is the key properties.

3.0 How to use RDP(VAE)
Mainly used in ceramic tile adhesive, ceramic tile jointing agent, plastering gypsum, self-leveling mortar, grout material ceramic tile adhesive, bonding mortar exterior insulation system, exterior insulation system of plastering mortar, flexible interior and exterior wall putty, flexible anti-crack mortar, powder polystyrene particles insulation mortar, powder coating, insulation board, have higher request for flexible polymer mortar products.

Applications and dosage
HEARST-503M is recommended to use in dry mixing mortar or powder construction material products, such as ceramic tile adhesive, tile grout, external wall insulation system (EIFS/ETICS), extrusion mortar for EPS component, waterproofing mortar, self-leveling mortar, repair mortar, decorative mortar, skim coat, fire-resistant mortar, sound insulation mortar, Joint compound, AAC adhesive, gypsum products, etc.
Normally recommended dosage is 0.5~5% in total formulation.

- In EIFS/ETICS formulation, is recommended to add 2~4% dosage of HEARST-503M, which can effectively improve the bonding strength, impact resistance and reduce water absorption.
- In skim coat formulation, is recommended to add 1~5% dosage of HEARST-503M, which can significantly reduce water absorption, improve the flexibility and bonding strength with the substrate.

The role of redispersible emulsion powder in mortar
There is a suitable amount of redispersible adhesive powder, which can improve the performance of mortar and save the cost.Preliminary test: Ash according to the standard requirements EVA emulsion rubber powder should be 12%; The difference in vitrification temperature can be applied in different fields:
Theoretically speaking, the product itself of the rubber powder with a glass conversion temperature below 5 ° C is more flexible, and it is mainly used in external insulation mortar.
A glass transition temperature above 10ºC adhesive powder is mainly used in adhesives and self-leveling mortar.
Depending on the composition of the mortar, the application performance of the mortar will also be affected by the change in the amount of redispersible rubber powder added:
. The addition of redispersible adhesive powder < 1% has a certain influence on the constructability and cohesiveness of mortar;
. The addition amount of redispersible rubber powder is 1-2.0% to improve the strength, water resistance and flexibility of mortar;
. The amount of redispersible glue powder is 2.0-5%, forming a network polymer film in the mortar, which significantly improves the strength and flexibility of the mortar under different climates and interfaces;
A different lime sand ratio will have a great impact on the properties of mortar, especially the mechanical properties. The preparation of mortar must first ensure that it has good workability and constructability.
The demand for cement paste depends on the porosity of the sand and the size of the total surface, if the number of cement paste is insufficient, it is difficult to ensure the performance of the mortar."
If you blindly increase the amount of cement, it will not only increase the cost, but also make the mortar shrink and increase, and even cause building cracks.
Therefore, the determination of the lime sand ratio should consider the performance and economic factors. In order to determine the appropriate ratio of lime to sand, the test material is construction sand, adding 2% of redispersible rubber powder and 0.2% of cellulose ether.
Storage
